Yukti - A national level inter-collegiate technical symposium

   

             Yukti is an annual national level Management and IT meet conducted by the students in TSM.   The meet is held usually in the Month of September and aims at the following:   

      • Learn the essence of event management
      • Acquire & share knowledge
      • Benchmark our college with others
      • Promote TSM
      • Enhance placement opportunities

         Eminent personalities will be invited for inauguration and validation.  They invite corporate managers, as judges for the various events.

      
With the primary aim of fostering a good relationship among the students of various institutions, the students of TSM conduct YUKTI. The first of its kind, YUKTI incorporates a spectrum of events in Management and IT in the same forum. It also acts as a testing ground to the students. YUKTI provides the aspiring managers and IT professionals an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice.

Gramotsavam

Gramotsavam is a rural expo organized by Thiagarajar School of Management in Association with M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation and Airtel on 26th January,2008 at Thevaram ,a village panchayat which is situated at the foothills of Western Ghats, Theni District, Tamil Nadu.

         Prof.R.V.Rajan, President, Rural Marketing Agencies Association of India (RMAI) inaugurated the event and Mr. Mohan Raman Management Consultant and T.V and Cine artist participated in the event. Nearly 5000 people participated in the expo. Our students were involved in the sales of different products catering to the needs of the village folks.  Corporates like State Bank of India , Ramco Cements, Vadamalayan Hospitals, P.O.R.R and Sons, Tata Motors, ICICI Prudential ,Honda Generators, SAME Tractors, Nitya Bio products, and Self Help groups of M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation ( Bio fertilisers and Hand made papers) participated in the EXPO.
 

Genesis

         Genesis is an annual event conducted by students of TSM every year to do some noble activities.   
The following are the social activities in the event.

  1. Offering to old age home / Child care homes
  2. Blood donation for the poor people through the blood bank of Madurai Rajaji Govt Hospital.
  3. Tree plantation

 

Student Clubs

         A wide range of extra-curricular activities and support services enrich the life in the campus.  They promote the all-round development of the students. The college encourages students’ participation in such activities and talent development pursuits available to them. There are many clubs and forums functioning in the campus serving almost every possible student interest. .

          To improve the skills and talents of the students the following clubs and forums are available in the college.

Athmabodha – TSM Book Club

         Athmabodha is a book review club. The main objective of this club is to improve the reading habits of the learners. The students as well as the faculty can review a book which will have more relevance to the academics, self development and considered to be an important literary work.                           

         Books of eminent authors are reviewed in the session followed by discussion by the participants. At the end of the year the participants are commended for their performance by issue of a certificate. The book review session is conducted every Monday of the week.

Bulls & Bears-TSM Finance Club

         TSM Finance Club is formed to keep track of the latest developments in capital markets and financial management discipline. The objective is to communicate the importance of Finance both as a field of study and as a function in the Corporate, to update the students about the happenings in the field of Finance and to arrange seminars and guest lectures on current developments in Finance  at the national and global level.

Business Line Club

         
The Business Line club is an organized association existing between TSM and Business Line (The Hindu). The activities of the BL club include- periodical guest Lectures, students participation in BL competitions and events.

Candhai – TSM Marketing Club

The objectives of TSM Marketing club are

    • Shape and complement the marketing curriculum to expand the marketing knowledge base
    • Strengthen the relationship between TSM and top marketing companies
    • Equip students with strong interviewing skills
    • Increase the breadth of recruiting opportunities
    • Enhance the marketing presence on campus.
Various activities of the club include Guest lectures, Student Presentations, Quiz programs, Logo test, Product Launch, Industrial Visits & Day on the Job.

nach – TSM HR Club

         
The HR club of TSM named “n ach” aims to harness the skills of the students of human resources discipline and make them best in their field. The main focus is on achievement in their area of specialization. The club activities include periodic talks to the students by senior corporate heads, specialists and consultants in HR to know current events and happenings. Organising seminars and workshops are part of the activities. The Club activities also include conducting HR Games, Role plays, Case discussions and screening movies of related concepts.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

         
The main objective of the Cell is to promote entrepreneurship among the student community. It organises Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes and also inter-active sessions with successful entrepreneurs.

Mercury Court - Economics Club

         The activities under Economic Times Club are also on line with the Business Line Club. The ET club facilitates exchange of business news and supplement reading on business information by students.

IT Club

         IT club focuses on throwing light into the developments taking place in the world of Information Technology.

SPARK – TSM Sports Club

        SPARK is TSM Sports Club. The club objective is to enhance the spirit of team building, competitiveness & sportsmanship. It motivates the students to participate in various tournaments and develop their skills in Cricket, Volley Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom. The club also conducts an annual intra-collegiate sports tournament

Sans Popcorn – TSM Movie Club

         It motivates the students to develop the right critical attitude towards the cine medium. The objective is to provide thought provoking entertainment. Also it inculcates the human values through electronic media. Every week Friday evening the club screens a movie with English subtitles. Award winners, historical films, documentaries of social importance and sci-fi films are given preference.

Zero Gravity- TSM Cultural Club

         Zero Gravity is a cultural Club. It motivates the students to participate and develop their skills in classical and light music.
